Sick Baby :(

We have a very miserable little guy... I'll spare you a lot of the yucky details. However, you haven't truly experienced motherhood until this happens: you go out to eat at Naked Tchopstix (quite possibly the best sushi restaurant in Indy). While you are there you feed your child sweet potatoes. After eating them he promptly projectile vomits them EVERYWHERE. All over himself, the highchair, the floor - EVERYWHERE. It was lovely, let me tell you. We are heading over to the pediatrician in the morning to see if there is anything they can do, but I have a feeling it's just a stomach bug and needs to run its course :(

Indy's Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is in Indianapolis this year! It is pretty exciting even though the Colts won't be playing in the big game this year. The Patriots against the Giants. I think that the Patriots being here is unlucky for them - they will probably have the entire city, if not state, cheering against them. And poor Eli is constantly referred to as Peyton's brother since he will be playing in Peyton's house.... at least we hope it stays Peyton's house! I guess we will have to wait and see about that. Anyway...

The city has been preparing for months - ok, probably years, but the visible preparations have only been going on during the past year as far as I can tell. Downtown has been completely transformed into the Super Bowl village and there are so many cool things going on down there. The weather has been freakishly warm for January/February so there have been insane amounts of people downtown.

We really wanted to go down and check out Super Bowl Village but the only day we could do it was Sunday, and it was not one of the warm days... it was cold and really, really, really windy. So, we did not stay that long, but from what we did see, Indy did a great job with the Super Bowl this year! I couldn't figure out how to save the map and post it here, but a link to the Super Bowl Village map is here: Map

One of the neatest things, in my opinion, is the zip line. It runs down Capitol Avenue and we saw many people whizzing by overhead. The online pre-sale tickets sold out almost immediately and people line up crazy early to get tickets the day of. Kevin was really wanting to do it, but there were no tickets when we went. They have free concerts, lots of bars and displays, and large outdoor heaters. We have heard rave reviews from the media about how great a job the city did with this Super Bowl and there is talk that Indy might get another Super Bowl down the road :)

We bundled up Braden in about 7 layers and put him in the stroller and headed out. Doesn't he look thrilled? He actually enjoyed it and didn't seem to be cold at all - he just took it all in.

The Super Bowl stuff on the side of the JW Marriott - pretty cool.

The Super Bowl letters on the Circle - they light up at night, but nighttime outings just really aren't for us anymore :)

There are Indy cars lined down Meridian Street and they are each painted with a different NFL team logo/colors. They were really awesome, but there were so many people that I didn't get any close up photos. Maybe that was a lack of patience on my part, but it was freezing!

Another shot of the letters.

The Super Bowl ice sculpture. I know that the ice sculptors didn't bet on 50 degree temps this week. I heard they melted and will have to be done again before the game.

Another ice sculpture.

All in all it was pretty awesome. We didn't do the NFL experience because we didn't want to spend the money. There was so much more that we didn't do, but I'm glad we got to experience it. That being said, I'm REALLY glad that I don't work downtown or have to go there for any purpose this week. Parking and traffic are a nightmare :)

Baby #2

I guess it's about time I got around to blog about this :)

Baby #2 is on the way! Our estimated due date at this point is August 5. We couldn't be more excited!

We found out the day after Thanksgiving. Of course, after already having a baby, I told Kevin the night before that I was pretty sure I was pregnant. Sure enough, the test confirmed it the next day. We waited to tell our families until after our first doctor appointment just to make sure that everything was OK. Then we made it public knowledge after our most recent doctor appointment at 11 weeks. We did have an ultrasound at the first appointment but we were only 6 or 7 weeks along so there really wasn't much to see except a tiny heartbeat. I know I've mentioned before how much I love my OB, and that isn't changing so far! We went in to see him at our 11 week appointment and he informed us that he wasn't just going to try to hear the heartbeat from the outside but was going to do another ultrasound! This is not really common practice for my OB's practice - we usually only get one early to confirm the pregnancy and then get the anatomy ultrasound between 18 and 22 weeks. Needless to say, I was pretty excited about it!

We wanted our kiddos to be close in age and that will sure be the case with Braden and this baby. They will be almost 14 months apart. Life will be crazy I'm sure, but we wouldn't want it any other way.

I loved being pregnant with Braden and I'm sure that was mostly because I had absolutely zero "pregnancy symptoms" and felt great the entire time. I have not been so lucky with this one. I've been sick almost every day so far and have a really hard time with drinking fluids, mostly because they are nauseating. Also, yesterday and today I have had a horrible migraine. However, I haven't gotten sick the past two days, so hopefully that part is over. Overall, I still consider myself pretty lucky as far as the symptoms go, because it could be MUCH worse.

I don't really have any gut feelings about the gender of this baby. But, last time I thought for sure it was a girl. That was confirmed with an ultrasound, but then as you all know we had a boy. I think I'm just convinced that we will have all boys now. I guess we will have to wait and see. They say that every pregnancy is completely different, so you can have to pregnancies with the same gender and have totally different symptoms, etc. A girl would be great but we would be happy with a boy too. Hey, we already have plenty of clothes for either gender :)

What Happened To Our Little Boy?!?!

Braden is 7 months old! I know I say it every month (and in my last blog post...), but time is seriously flying! I can't believe 7 months has gone by and he is growing up so fast. The day after he turned 7 months old he weighed 15 pounds 15 ounces which puts him a bit over the 10th percentile for once!

I feel like he has decided to accomplish everything all in one month! Here is what he has accomplished in January:
  • Started crawling on January 7 - one week before he turned 7 months old
  • He finally stopped getting up in the middle of the the night for a diaper change!
  • He started pulling up on things on January 16
  • He started sitting up on his own on January 23
Seriously - that is a lot of accomplishments for one month!

His nighttime sleeping pattern is MUCH better and we actually feel rested most days! He still gets up for a bottle, but he is not really consistent about what time he wakes up. Sometimes it is 4am and other days it isn't until he is up for the day around 6am. I have to say that my preference is when he gets up around 5am and then sleeps until 7:30 or 8am. He is also taking two good naps a day and then takes a cat nap around 4:30 or so.

He still loves bath time and has graduated to a bath seat where he can actually sit in the bathtub and not the baby bath. He loves these stacking blocks that we got him too. He watches us build a tower and then crawls to it and knocks it over. He is also fascinated with everything he is not supposed to have, like computer cords, Rocco's toys, etc. We usually just chase him around and redirect his interests which works for like 5 seconds :)

Here is some Braden cuteness!

7 Months Old!

Braden is 7 months old today! I know I say it every month, but it is SO hard to believe it has been 7 months old already!

Here are some updates for this month:
  • He is much happier now and only cries if he is hungry, tired, or wet. Or if he is bored and just wants to be held.
  • He now hold out his arms to you when he wants to be picked up. It's so cute!!!
  • He started crawling one week ago! He is all over the place and really likes crawling up to Rocco and touching his feet. I'm not sure what the obsession is there... He enjoys crawling to the toys he wants to play with. He definitely has opinions there!
  • He is eating all kinds of baby food now, and will often eat an entire stage 2 and an entire stage 1. He does not like to eat breakfast - I guess he is not much of a morning eater. His favorites are still sweet potatoes and anything that has sweet potatoes mixed in. He also really enjoys the combos of chicken & apples and turkey & sweet potatoes. He is still not a huge fan of veggies...
  • Just this week he stopped getting up for a diaper change in the middle of the night! Thank God for Pampers Extra Protection diapers! I think I'm going to write them and tell them to make them in smaller sizes. They don't make them until size 3, and when you have a very skinny child, it takes awhile to get to size 3. Now he sometimes sleeps through the night and gets up around 6 or 6:30. But usually he still gets up once for a bottle, somewhere between 4 and 5.
  • He still smiles all the time and laughs a lot more now.
And speaking of laughing, here is a video of him laughing with Mommy!

I don't have an updated weight yet, but he goes to the doctor on Tuesday for his second flu shot, so I'll have them weigh him then. And, I'll get more pictures up soon. I only have time to blog when he's sleeping, and I don't have any new pics!

Braden is CRAWLING!!!

Yes, that's right! Braden started crawling on January 7, 2012. He was a little over 6.5 months old. He had been doing the "army crawl" on his belly for a little while, but he is now legitimately crawling on his hands and knees! There is a video of it at the end of this post - I guess I uploaded in the wrong order :)

Here is Braden playing with his new walker toy. No, he's not sitting up on his own yet, but he is close.
And here he is enjoying a very warm day outside at the babysitter's house. Isn't he the cutest???
And here is our crawler! We're in trouble now!

Braden's First Christmas

We really enjoyed Christmas this year as a family of 3! I thought that Braden wouldn't really care about Christmas this year, but he loved it! He got the hang of opening presents quickly and loved doing it. We celebrated with Kevin's family early, on December 10th, because we were heading to Arizona for Christmas. I didn't get any of those photos up here (because Blogger was only letting me upload one photo at a time and it was taking FOREVER), so I'll have to get them up soon.

We celebrated Christmas at our house on the night of the 23rd before heading to AZ on the 24th.

Here is Kevin helping Braden open his stocking. We kept him up late so yes, he looks very tired :)
We flew to AZ on the 24th and Braden did great on the flights. He's such a good flyer! We went to church with my family for Christmas Eve, but poor Kevin spent much of the service outside as Braden decided he wasn't going to be quiet :)

Mommy and Braden opening his stocking on Christmas morning.
Helping Uncle Matt open his gift.
His favorite thing to do was eat the wrapping paper.
Inspecting his new toy from Grandma and Grandpa Davis.
Playing with his toy from Great Grandma Warner
Meeting Charlotte for the first time! Little do they know, they are betrothed!
Playing with Grandpa and the red hat. Braden LOVED the red hat!
Playing with the cool new hippo toy! It shoots the balls everywhere, and he thinks it's pretty cool.
The weather was so nice in Arizona we decided to take Braden to the Phoenix Zoo for the first time. He loved riding around in the stroller and looking at all the animals.
In fact, he had so much fun he just couldn't handle it anymore :)
Braden's favorite toy is Sofie the giraffe. He got to see real life Sofie's at the zoo!
He was definitely interested.

We had a great time in AZ despite the fact that Braden didn't sleep at all during the night. He for sure prefers to sleep in his own bed. Can say I blame him!
