One Month Old!

Our Logan is one month old!  That sure seems like it was a really fast month!  Though when you are sleep deprived, the days all seem to blend together anyhow.  I still think it's July - though I realize we are almost in September.

Updates

  • Logan is a pretty good sleeper!  This is a nice change since Braden didn't like to sleep much at all.  He naps pretty well during the day.  At night, he goes to bed between 10pm and 11pm.  He gets up every 3 hours to nurse and is good about going right back to sleep.  Granted, it take 30-45 minutes to nurse him, but at least he goes back to sleep quickly.
  • During the day, he loves to eat. A lot.  He eats anywhere from every hour to every 3 hours - with a preference for every hour.
  • He does not like to lay flat to sleep.  We have tried elevating one side of the mattress and even that doesn't work.  So, for now, he sleeps in his swing seat.  The pediatrician wasn't concerned with that, so we aren't either.  Eventually we will need him to lay flat to sleep, but that's a battle we will have later.
  • In the past few days he has started being awake for longer periods of time during the day.  The longest he has gone was 3 hours - from 7-10pm.
  • He is generally fussy in the evenings but is a pretty happy baby otherwise.
  • I actually don't think he has a problem with milk or milk products.  I think it's soy that he has an issue with.  I have been able to eat dairy in moderation, and he seems fine other than being a bit gassy.
  • He hold his head up pretty well now.
  • He hates tummy time.
  • He loves bath time.

He has been to an Indians baseball game, a big picnic, and goes on many errands with Mommy.  He's a pretty good sport about it all, though he really doesn't like his car seat.

First Baseball Game

On Wednesday night Kevin had a work function at the Indians game.  So, we decided to take both boys and head downtown to attend.  The plan was that the boys and I would pick Kevin up from work at 5:00 and head downtown for a cookout and the game - first pitch at 7:05.  Sounds good, right?  Well, our schedule says that dinner is at 5:30 and bedtime is at 7:30.  So, driving downtown during dinner time and being at the game during bedtime... what could possibly go wrong?

At first, B loved it.  He was sitting in the stroller eating his hot dog.  His first hot dog by the way, and he loved it!  However, it didn't take long for him to want to be out of the stroller.  In the picnic area there is a big grassy hill.  He just wanted to run down the hill.  He thought it was great fun!  However, when we picked him up to go do something else, he had a major meltdown.  Screaming toddler.  Ugh.  Then we walked around the ballpark for a bit - Kevin holding his hand.  He enjoyed that, but about 7:30 we decided it was time to leave and tried to put him in the stroller.  Holy temper tantrum.  We handle the tantrums by ignoring them, so he was just carrying on for awhile.  Yep - we were "those people" with the screaming toddler.  I'm sure that everyone thought we were horrible parents and our child is not well behaved.  Oh well.  What are you going to do?  A weekend daytime game might have been a better option...

It was a good time for awhile though!

14 Months Old!

Braden is 14 months old!

He is such a fun kiddo and he makes us laugh all the time.  He is so smart and we are always amazed at how much he learns every day!

Stats

As of this morning, Braden was 21 pounds!  Such a big boy...

Eating and Sleeping Habits

  • He finally started sleeping through the night!  It only took 13.5 months... In fact, he started doing it when we were in the hospital with Logan.  Good boy!  He goes to bed between 7:30 and 8pm and gets up around 7:00am.
  • He still takes two naps a day.  His first nap is at 10am for about 90 minutes or so.  His second nap is somewhere between 1:30 and 3:00pm for another 90 minutes.
  • He eats ALL THE TIME.  And, he loves snacks.  He knows where they are kept in the pantry, and if you leave the pantry door open he grabs whatever he wants...
  • He really isn't that picky, but we usually have to start with veggies first, or he will bypass them for everything else.

Development

  • He has discovered climbing and tries to climb anything and everything.  Luckily, he hasn't started trying to climb out of his crib yet.
  • His vocabulary is growing daily!  Some of his words include: bye bye, more, no, nap, dog, duck, snack, juice, Mommy, Dada.  I know he has more words than that, but they aren't coming to me at the moment :)
  • He can tell you that the cow says 'moo' and the doggie says 'arf'
  • He tries to put his shoes on by himself now
  • He can turn on the tv and adjust the volume and channels - good fun

Other Updates

He is adjusting well to having a baby brother.  He waves to him and calls him Bubby.  Other than that, he pretty much ignores him.  He doesn't seem to be too jealous or demand my attention all of the time.  However, Kevin was home for a week and a half and then my mom has been here.  So, we will see how it goes when it's just me and the boys during the day.  He loves going for walks, to the park, and swimming in his pool.  He still loves books - I hope that never changes.  He has been sick with some type of virus for the past 5 days, so he has been kind of unhappy but I don't blame him.  Hopefully it goes away soon.

2 Week Pediatrician Appointment

Logan had his 2 week doctor appointment today - he is doing great!  Here are his stats:

7 pounds 11 ounces (20th percentile)
20 3/8 inches (35th percentile)

The doctor said he is perfect (but we already knew that).  He is up 10 ounces since birth, and 8 ounces in the past week.  He said that we have the green light to let him sleep as long as he wants now without having to make sure he eats every 3 hours.  So far, he doesn't go longer than that anyhow :)

Almost 2 Weeks Old

Logan will be two weeks old tomorrow.  Time sure does go by fast!  Kevin has to go back to work tomorrow - we sure have enjoyed having him home!  My mom is coming in tomorrow for the next week to help out, so that will be nice.

Braden is adjusting well to being a big brother.  He really doesn't pay too much attention to Logan.  He will wave at him though, which is pretty cute.  He calls him bubby.

Logan continues to be a pretty laid back baby.  He does like to be held a lot though and doesn't really want to hang out in the swing or bouncy seat just yet.  We are working on sleeping at night.  He doesn't like to lay flat, so the bassinet is only being used as a place to change diapers.  He much prefers to sleep in our arms or on my chest.  We have been struggling with trying to put him down to sleep in the swing or the bouncy seat.  He seems to wake up the minute you put him down.  Last night he managed to sleep 1.5 hours in the swing, so I guess we are making progress.  He is staying awake more during the day and is sometimes up from one feeding to the next.  He is still nursing well and eats every 1.5 to 3 hours.  We are avoiding milk products and soy products currently because I think he is sensitive to those things - Braden was too.  At least Logan isn't constantly screaming like B was at his age.

He has met all of his grandparents and Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.  He has met his great grandparents on the Myers side.  He has been to Babies R Us, Meijer, and Daddy's office.  He had a weight check on Monday 8/6 and was 7 pounds 2 ounces.  He had already passed up his birth weight, so that's great. He goes for his 2 week checkup tomorrow.  He enjoys walks in the stroller, which is great, because B loves them too!

Overall, we are doing well!

Logan Andrew Hall

Logan made his debut on Monday July 30, 2012 at 7:35am.  He weighed 7 pounds 1 ounce and was 18.75 inches long.

He is such a sweet baby and looks very similar to Braden.  So far, he has a very mellow personality!  He is nursing very well, so hopefully that keeps up.  I'll post more updates in a few days, but for now, here are some photos!
