Easter 2013

We had such a great Easter this year!  It was Logan's first Easter and Braden's second, but it was really the first that he understood about egg hunts and Easter baskets.  He is still to young to understand the true meaning of Easter, but we are working on that :)

We celebrated Easter with Kevin's family a week early so that everyone would be able to be together.  It was a chilly day, but fun nonetheless.  We had a great Easter dinner, egg hunt, and celebrated March birthdays - including Kevin's.  Here are some photos from Kokomo:

It was kind of nice just to do Easter as a family around our house.  When the kiddos woke up we came out and let them open their baskets.  Here is a video of that:

The Easter bunny came!

Not looking too amused with their bunny ears, but they were cute!
We then did an egg hunt in the backyard that afternoon since the weather was so nice!  Here is a video:

And more photos from the day!

Logan is 7 Months Old!

Our baby is seven months old!  Ah!

Once again, another month flew by.  Then again, it was February, so it was a few days shorter :)  Logan is doing so great and continues to be the happiest baby ever!  I swear, the kid never cries, unless he's tired, hungry, or bored.

Development/Updates

  • Finally sits up on his own.  Although, he isn't very stable and can't really stop himself from falling backwards
  • SUPER close to crawling!  I bet it will only be another day or so before he's fully mobile.  He has been what I call 'worm crawling' for awhile, and is definitely able to get to what he wants
  • No teeth yet, but he is a drool monster, so I'm sure it won't be much longer.
  • Puts himself to sleep without a fuss.  Sometimes he babbles in his crib before he goes to sleep, but not for too long.
  • Still gets up once during the night to eat
  • Exclusively breast fed still, though not by Mommy's choice.  He refuses to drink formula.  Flat out refuses.
  • Is super picky about when he will eat baby food.  Sometimes he will and sometimes he won't.
  • Nurses about 6 times a day
  • Finally takes good naps!  He's a 3ish nap kind of baby, mostly because he sleeps on the way home in the evening.
  • He gets super excited when he sees me, Kevin, or Braden.  It's super cute!
  • He is always smiling!

Logan is 6 Months Old!

Six months old!  That means we are now on the countdown until he turns 1.... which make this mom a tad sentimental.  Everyone says it - it's probably the most used statement in the world - the grow up so fast.  SO. FAST.

Six Month Stats

  • Weight: 15 pounds (10th percentile)
  • Height: 27 inches (75th percentile)
  • Head: 42.5 cm (~15th percentile)

Development/Updates

  • Continues to roll all over the place. He is now able to go from back to stomach as well as stomach to back. He makes his way across the room to what he wants.
  • Continues to be the happiest baby in the world!  Seriously, he only cries if he is hungry, tired, or just wants some attention.
  • Still chomps on his hands and everything else he can get to his mouth
  • Is now able to find his pacifier in his crib and get it back to his mouth.  This is SUPER helpful and might just be my favorite milestone yet!
  • Sleeps from about 8pm until 7am or so, usually getting up once to eat.  However, this week has been anything but normal, so he has gotten up twice at night to eat.  Not sure if it's still a lingering growth spurt, or if he's uncomfortable from his 6 month vaccinations, but a return to normal would be nice :)
  • He is still exclusively breast fed, though we might try adding some formula this weekend.  Though, due to the cow's milk allergy, we have to use the super pricy hypoallergenic formula, so I think we will only try this before bed time for awhile.
  • He nurses or has a bottle 6 to 7 times a day, which equals every 3 hours during the day and then once in the middle of the night.
  • He usually takes one really good nap in the morning, and then a few shorter naps in the afternoon.  He is pretty good about putting himself to sleep.  This is nice because he actually doesn't want to be rocked to sleep anymore.
  • No signs of teeth yet
  • He is SO close to crawling.  He will get up on his hand and feet or knees for a few seconds.  He isn't quite strong enough to hold himself there for too long, but it won't be long.  Then I will have 2 mobile kids under two years old....
  • Evidently, he is able to sit up on his own now.  However, he has only done this at daycare.  She sent us a video of him doing it, so I know it's possible.  But, the little stinker refuses to sit up for Mommy and Daddy.  It's a really fun game for him.
  • He was doing really well eating baby food three times a day.  Then, one day he decided he wasn't going to eat it.  Super frustrating.  We held off for about a week, and then tried again a few days ago.  We are only offering it once a day (pediatrician recommendation) and then will slowly work back up to three times a day.  The past three days he has been eating one jar in the morning OK.  He's not a big fan of it at first, but we manage.

Uncle Matty will be excited that Logan enjoyed watching the Phoenix Open!
Oh yes, it won't be long...

Logan is 5 Months Old!

Statistics

I have no idea how much he weighs or how tall he is!  He does not have a checkup until 6 months.  We did have to take him to the doctor for a respiratory virus last week - they did weigh him, but I was more concerned about his breathing than remembering his weight.

Development/Updates

  • Rolls over from back to stomach all the time.
  • Not so good at rolling from stomach to back, so he gets upset that he is stuck on his belly.
  • Laughs all the time - especially at his brother
  • Still eats his hands constantly
  • Has discovered his feet and loves to hold on to them - especially when bathing him or trying to change his diaper, making it extra challenging!
  • Holds on to most toys and passes them from hand to hand
  • Rolls and squirms around to what toy he wants
  • Finally loves his paci instead of his fingers - yay!  He can grab it and pull it out of his mouth but is not able to get it back into his mouth yet.
  • Has a cow's milk allergy as well...
  • Had his first foods last week.  We started out with baby single grain oatmeal... fail.  He broke out in a rash from head to toe.  We skipped to pears and he loves them!  Pears were Braden's first food as well.  He is learning to eat from a spoon and we do at least 2 feedings a day.
  • He is still nursing during the day and has bottles at daycare and at night - somewhere around 6 times a day.
  • Still sleeping from ~8pm to 7am getting up once to eat around 4am
  • Still taking 3 or 4 naps a day, usually about 30-45 minutes long
  • He was sick for the first time last week, and it's still lingering :(  He was diagnosed with bronchiolitis, non-RSV type.  We spent over 3 hours at the doctor's office and were sent home with a nebulizer so we could do breathing treatments with him every 4 hours as needed.  He does fairly well with it, though I would not say that he enjoys it.  However, we learned the hard way that albuterol (the prescription for the nebulizer) is a stimulant.  He was wide awake until almost 11pm the first night.  Needless to say, we no longer do a treatment before bed time!
I told you Logan loves to laugh at his brother!
