Logan Is Two Months Old!

Yep, another month has passed.  Logan was two months old yesterday and is nine weeks old today.

Stats

  • He weighs 11 pounds 2 ounces (35th percentile) - 1.5 pounds more than Braden at this age :)
  • He is 22.5 inches tall (33rd percentile)
  • His head circumference is 39cm (27th percentile)

Development

  • He is strong
  • He holds his head up really well and only has "bobble head moments" when he's getting tired
  • He loves to sit and face out
  • He has found his hands and will suck on them
  • He follows objects with his eyes and will turn to sounds and voices
  • He recognizes Mommy and Daddy and our voices
  • He will roll onto his sides but doesn't go any further than that yet

Updates

  • Last month Logan was a good sleeper.  This month is a different story... He no longer likes to nap very much.  He power naps - 20 to 30 minutes at a time.  Braden was the exact same way for quite some time.  We called him the "anti-napper" and it appears that Logan is going to be called the same.
  • If we get any naps that are longer it is because he is in the swing or in the car.
  • I have no idea how he can stay awake for so long.  He has gone as long as 5.5 hours without sleeping.  That seems crazy to me for such a little guy.
  • At night he is much better - thankfully.  He usually gives us one long stretch (about 4 hours) followed a few 2 or 3 hour stretches.  He has been going to bed around 10:30 or 11 and we are trying really hard to move that to an earlier time, but he is struggling with that.  He is still pretty good about eating and then going right back to sleep.
  • He is still nursing though I am tempted everyday to switch to formula purely for selfish reasons.
  • During the day I have to insert some bottle feedings.  If I don't, he is a very lazy eater and doesn't get full meals, so he wants to eat every hour and a half or so.  If I give him some bottles through the day he can go 3 hours between meals.
  • He is much more content playing on his playmat or on the floor, sometimes for as long as an hour
  • Still hates the bouncy seat
  • Still loves bath time and stroller rides

Glow Stick Bath Time

Awhile back, I found a pack of glow stick in the dollar racks at Target.  I thought Braden would really enjoy them.  He did!  We played with them at home during the day and he thought they were great.  The other day I was browsing around Pinterest and saw the idea to put the glow sticks in the bathtub and turn off the lights.  I thought it was cool, so we decided to try it last night.  It was a hit!  He thought it was the best thing ever!  If we keep doing it, we are going to have to start bath time earlier because he didn't want to get out!  Here are some photos.  Sorry about the quality - my camera doesn't operate very well in the dark!

Braden is 15 Months Old!

Braden turned 15 months old on September 14!

Stats

  • He is 22.2 pounds - though that is only from our bathroom scale.  His 15 month appointment is October 1, so we will have official height and weight stats then.
  • Wearing 18 month clothes - some 24 month if they are all cotton, like PJ's
  • He is up to size 5 in shoes
  • He has 7 teeth - 4 on top, 3 on bottom - and about 5 ready to pop through anytime

Updates

  • He is usually a 2 nap a day kind of kid.  Usually.
  • For the past week he has been getting up around 6:15, an hour earlier than normal.  He will have his milk and go back to sleep for about an hour or so.  I don't know why he's doing that, but I'm blaming it on teething.
  • His motor skills are developing very well
    • He climbs EVERYTHING.  His favorite thing to do is climb up on the couch.
    • He runs everywhere.  There is no more walking.
    • He is stacking blocks now, though he still prefers to knock them down
    • He is able to turn knobs now.  Once he gets taller, we won't be able to keep him confined by simply shutting doors!
  • He is super smart....
    • He knows where his ear, nose, mouth, and belly are.  He will point to them on himself and on us.
    • If you tell him it's bath time he runs into the bathroom.
    • If you tell him he needs a new diaper, he runs to his room
    • If you ask him if he needs a nap, he grabs his milk and runs to his room.
  • He loves to sit on his horsey and watch Baby Einstein videos
  • He loves being outside and throws major tantrums when you bring him back inside
  • He always has to pick a green tomato off the plants when he is outside.  If you aren't quick enough, he gets a red one and smashes it... bummer
  • Still loves bath time and now he is very concerned about saving all of his toys from the evil drain!

A Boy and His Dog

It's no secret that Braden LOVES Rocco.  He loves to climb all over him, feed him food, and tries to give him some of his toys on occassion.  However, I have never seen him imitate Rocco until today.

Rocco was going crazy at the back door because there was a squirrel out in the yard.  He was whining, barking, and carrying on.  Pretty soon, Braden walked up next to him and started barking and whining too.  Too cute!  See for yourself...

Braden Videos

How cute is my little guy?  This also about sums up our day - one activity for about 30 seconds before moving on to the next!

I also managed to catch this moment during bath time - he thought the falling water was really funny!

Logan is 6 Weeks Old!

He's growing up so fast!

One Month Old!

Our Logan is one month old!  That sure seems like it was a really fast month!  Though when you are sleep deprived, the days all seem to blend together anyhow.  I still think it's July - though I realize we are almost in September.

Updates

  • Logan is a pretty good sleeper!  This is a nice change since Braden didn't like to sleep much at all.  He naps pretty well during the day.  At night, he goes to bed between 10pm and 11pm.  He gets up every 3 hours to nurse and is good about going right back to sleep.  Granted, it take 30-45 minutes to nurse him, but at least he goes back to sleep quickly.
  • During the day, he loves to eat. A lot.  He eats anywhere from every hour to every 3 hours - with a preference for every hour.
  • He does not like to lay flat to sleep.  We have tried elevating one side of the mattress and even that doesn't work.  So, for now, he sleeps in his swing seat.  The pediatrician wasn't concerned with that, so we aren't either.  Eventually we will need him to lay flat to sleep, but that's a battle we will have later.
  • In the past few days he has started being awake for longer periods of time during the day.  The longest he has gone was 3 hours - from 7-10pm.
  • He is generally fussy in the evenings but is a pretty happy baby otherwise.
  • I actually don't think he has a problem with milk or milk products.  I think it's soy that he has an issue with.  I have been able to eat dairy in moderation, and he seems fine other than being a bit gassy.
  • He hold his head up pretty well now.
  • He hates tummy time.
  • He loves bath time.

He has been to an Indians baseball game, a big picnic, and goes on many errands with Mommy.  He's a pretty good sport about it all, though he really doesn't like his car seat.
